Joy's Piano Recital

Image
Joy had her Piano Recital Monday evening. After the recital, Momma, Daddy, Heidi, Joy, Jon, and I went to Italian Affair to celebrate.

Pictures... Pictures... and MORE Pictures!!

I won't bore you with details of all these, but they were all taken at Spring Mill State Park in IN. You'll notice one of all four grandkids and Rach. . . We tried to get her to lay down so we only got the 5 grandkids :-) but she was afraid she wouldn't be able to get back up if she layed down behind the kids! :-) Bud was the only one not able to make it, and as it turns out, we're fortunate to still have Bud as a part of our family!! To make a looooong story short, he and a friend went white water rafting and got caught in advanced rapids made worse by flash flooding. They abandoned their boats and spent three days hiking on one day's food supply before they found ANY civilization. We are once again thanking God for His protection!!

Vacation!

Just a quick hello from hot and humid Indiana. It's very late, and we have more fun things planned for tomorrow morning, but I just wanted to post and say hi! Loads of pictures to post later. . .

Dinner for my Wife!

Image
I've been trying to lose some weight, and shrimp is one of the acceptable things that I can eat on my diet. I decided to make some Shrimp Scampi. I was not allowed to have the pasta due to the diet rules, but my wife was. Anyway, when we got done putting it on her plate we decided that it was worthy of a picture. So we just thought that we would share. If you think that it looks good, you should have had some. We both agreed that it was quite tasty.

Momma

These are from the Monday after Mother's day (a little old) but I thought they were fun, so. . . Momma was scolding me for posting this picture of her with her tongue out (Of course I told her!) and then got tickled when she realized she'd been had again! :-)

Grandmother & Grandfather's anniversary gift

Image
This year, my Grandparents celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary. I wanted to do something special and unique for them. Grandmother enjoys getting flowers, but I didn't want to leave Grandfather out since it was his day too. I wanted six different white flowers (one for each decade they have been married) because "diamond white" is the color for the 60 th . I also wanted at least 6 cookies because Grandfather enjoys those! So, after shopping around a little, I was able to work this arrangement out with a florist in their area. He claimed he had never heard of (or seen) cookie bouquets, but he caught on quickly and assured me he could and would do it for me. I was a little worried about how it would turn out, but. . . Thanks to Aunt Joanna for the picture!!

For Lack of Anything Better to Post...

Here are just a couple pieces of furniture I've had to design for my History of Furniture class. The first piece is a sofa/entry table. I had to use certain design elements such as inlays, mortise and tenon, and dovetail construction. The second piece is a minimalist desk. I had to choose one designer from the Modern Movement and imitate their style incorporating design philosophies and materials commonly found in the Modern era.

A Few of My Favorite Things

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens. . . We all know the song. I'm really not sure why they always play it with all the Christmas music though, because while yes, Christmas is a favorite, the whole rain drops on roses thing kind of leads you to think of spring/summer. But anyway, I've been thinking for a couple weeks about some of my favorite things, so here they are not necessarily in this order. A smile from a friend across the church A text saying "It's a Nephew!!" Ordering/buying gifts for people Bags (some purses, but mostly totes of all kinds!) My job - yes I really do quite enjoy my job! I work with some of the nicest people! Snuggling up on the couch with my husband for a movie Collaborating on some ridiculous idea/ fantasy with my husband Laughing - with anyone! A card from a friend just because they were thinking of me Music of many different variations School - although it's not always fun and it stresses me out sometimes My sewing ma...
