Project #5 - No More Bare Walls!

Image
Some of these things have been hanging just about since I unpacked them. Others. . . well there was a little more to it than unpacking them. Some of these things are kind of just up there for now and I will be working more with them later too. 1) hanging over our bed. It has four different pictures of flowers and plants that Jon has taken. 2) hanging over the toilet in the guest bathroom. Our bathroom has a towel rod over the toilet. 3) hanging over my work table in the computer room just for fun. 4) hanging just inside the door. I plan to get a key/mail holder of some sort to hang under it. 5) hanging between the hallway and the kitchen entry from the dining room. 6) hanging in the dining room opposite the big windows in the living room. It helps reflect natural light and brighten a windowless room 7) hanging on the other dining room wall. Of three walls, one has the kitchen doorway, one has mirror etc., and one has this arrangement. I'm not completely happy with it though. I thin...

FINALly done!!

To make a very long story short, I was supposed to finish this class Wednesday and start the next Thursday, but because the school web site was down a couple days, they extended the due dates of this and the next class a few days. I was doing just fine with my assignments in spite of the site down time, but then I got sick and was VERY relieved to have the due dates extended! Anyway, for this class we were assigned our own clients (each of us had a different client), told a little about them and where they live, and given the floor plan for a gutted condo. We all worked with the same floor plan but different client needs. As I posted before, we took the basic floor plan and developed it into a finished plan (with a lot of steps between) and then we had to choose all the furniture, fabrics, and finishing materials (walls, floors, etc.). For our final project, we had to kind of put everything together with a written presentation and display board. Of course each step is really about...

Saturday, May 9, 2009, my big brother graduated from UB with a BS in Electrical Engineering. This was his second degree in the field. First he received his Associates in Electrical Engineering Technology from SUNY Canton. We were so happy to get to spend some time with him Friday and then attend the ceremony Saturday! Here are just a few pictures. These ones aren't great. Jon got some better ones on his camera. He joked that after all this time all he got was a little UB pin. :-) Bored after Bud was done! LOVE this one!! While the proud parents looked on And us again! :-)

A Day at the Falls!

Image
Well, it wasn't a whole day, but Jon and I were really happy to get to spend the afternoon at Niagra Falls with Bud and Aimee. Jon had never been before. I had been once before. Here are just a few pictures. Note: Excuse my hair in Bud's face in the last one!

Just a little of what I've been up to...

First there's school, then work, then helping friends get moved, then school, then work, then church, the school, then. . . You get the idea! School has kept me quite busy lately, and one of my co-workers had a new granddaughter and the other one had surgery for cancer, so. . . I've been getting a few extra hours - which is good! It's just that I feel like I'm forgetting something or not doing something I should be doing CONSTANTLY!! Here is just a little visual idea of what I've been doing. For school, I had to take this floor plan of a gutted condo and totally design the inside according to the needs, preferences, and hobbies of my assigned client. There were about FIVE steps in between the two images below! I helped with some decorating at church (pictures 3, 4, and 5). We helped our good friends Tandy and Andrew get all unloaded from their move Saturday evening. I've worked 16 hours so far this week and have another 5 to go and that's not counting the la...
