Hmm...

Image
Long story short. . . I ordered a sweatshirt and hat from the campus store the beginning of November. I was hoping to have them by graduation so I'd be able to proudly wear them all winter. . . I got a sweatshirt and hat the end of December, only I received not the small sweatshirt I ordered, but. . . are you ready for this? . . . a 2X!! So I followed return directions, etc. and was assured the replacement would be put through on priority. . . Three months, many unanswered phone messages, and a couple e-mails later. . . Look what FINALLY came yesterday! I had to check the tag just to be sure. I even tried it on. It really IS the right size! Oh yeah, look what else came with it! (sorry for sideways pix, you get the idea.) Sooo. . . Now here's the conundrum I'm in. How many identical hats do you see?!? If you said two - you are correct! I'm thinking a free $9 hat is the least they can do for my troubles, but I'm honestly wondering if I want to settle for that! AND...

Boredom...

Image
So Here I sit bored at work again. I've been here since around 8:30 and have had no customers. At this rate 5:00 will NEVER get here! This morning started extra early too because I had to be completely ready for work before taking Jon to work for 7:30 - 30 min.s away, so I'm a little sleepy on top of the boredom! Anyway, for lack of anything better to post, I thought I'd post a couple pictures of some baskets I made up here at work a couple weeks ago. There were two just the same. The customer brought in her own baskets and beer and I put it all together with the chips, dip, BBQ , steak rub, and peanuts she bought from us. I didn't wrap them in cellophane or anything like normal because she was going to add sweatshirts to them ( hence the bare space in the middle).

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick update. Last week was a bit crazy! I usually work only VERY part-time. Last week, my boss was gone so I put in 45 hours - Mon.-Sat.! Jon has pretty well completely changed jobs now, so that means earlier mornings, later evenings, and a LOT more driving time for him. Sooo. . . It was a bit of a long week. I, of course, had a birthday in the middle of all that. I got all kinds of great gifts and goodies (brownies anyone?!?) then Friday night Jon took me to dinner at our local Chinese place. Saturday, I worked until 2:00 then Jon had band practice at 3:30. We got home and didn't feel like cooking (again) so we tried out an old favorite diner in it's new location (not a huge fan of the new set-up). Then it was Sunday again after one less hour of sleep. So that's pretty well it for last week! In other news. . . It is BEAUTIFUL out here and has been for most of the last couple weeks! I know this means very little to some of you more southern dwellers, but considering...

Friday night at YFC

Image
First of all, let me say that I am sooo proud of myself. Turns out that since I got this new fangled tiny camera, I have actually been taking more pictures because I just always have my camera in my purse! Anyway, now that we have that important information noted. . . Friday night the 9 a.m. worship "band" that Jon and Andrew play in at church, played for a Seaway Youth for Christ event. We took Joy along for a new experience. The YFC has this great old church building that they have converted into a very teen friendly gathering place with seating and a platform as well as ping-pong and other table games. Downstairs is a little kitchenette and office. The kids gathered in and played games for just a few minutes before the "band" played and did a little devotional. We were there quite a bit early for set up and last minute practice. After, the kids snacked and played more, but since it was our first time and we hadn't really known what to plan for, we didn't ...

Yay for me!!

All updated

And now, just a little run down of our recent activities. Every week begins with church on Sunday then there's just work til Wed. night Bible study (cottage meeting at different people's houses to help with the church's heating costs for the winter) then more work. Weekends have been somewhat busy, but relaxing at the same time. Jon always has band practice on Saturday morning. This past Saturday there was also a men's breakfast before practice. He got home around 12:30 and we headed down to Saranac Lake to "drop in" on Mom and Dad Catton - no reason, just dropping off/picking up stuff and visiting. They provided a yummy dinner then we were on the road again. Last Saturday, I worked til 2:00 then we got together with friends. Two weekends now, we've been able to help our friends get moved and settled into there new place and of course there's always food and fun to be had to break up the work. This Friday, Jon (and the other guys he plays with...

Perspective

The last couple weeks I have been in a bit of a slump. No particular reason, just a little discouraged and sooo ready for spring! I meant to post at the time, but never got around to it. I'm feeling much better about life now, but I still wanted to post another little list of my every day blessings. I HAVE been accused of having a Pollyanna outlook (which is good I think), and I guess that's what this list is. For several days while feeling blaw, I would start focusing on good things I would add to a list. I've decided I just need to sit down and post a list like this every once in a while, even if it gets repetitive, just to keep things in perspective. So here it is - blessings that make my life good. My little "home" My family My sewing machine My favorite mug (It makes me feel warm inside to have my own special mug that my Momma got for me. When I'm feeling down or lonely or just sentimental, I can snuggle up with a warm drink and good memories.) A ...

Bowling. . .

Image
K, I've been notified, by one of my favorite "lurkers", that I need to update, so here we go. . . A couple Friday nights ago, our church young adult group went bowling at this little old small town place. Since I have never played before and wasn't about to play for the first time with people I'm not real familiar with yet, I opted to hang out and watch. Jon played and did pretty well. I think he came in second the first game and first the second and that was after who knows how long not playing! Unfortunately, several of the "group" weren't able to make it. Due to lack of baby sitters, birthday parties, and family emergencies, there was only 6 of us, but it was fun anyway. Here are just a few pictures I got while playing around with my new camera. I haven't gotten it all figured out yet and with the sporadic lighting, it was hard to catch certain people in motion. Marissa "granny bowled" so I didn't really catch any good action s...
