So Thanksgiving day has nearly come and gone. It has been a long day and we're all tuckered (and maybe puckered) out from a day of sitting around and eating way too much food but I, like the faithful blogger I am, not only talked my husband into getting a picture of the two of us, but am now sitting here blogging it! Of course I realize that you all have nothing better to do at 11:00 on Thanksgiving night - the very eve of "black Friday" - than to read my blog and admire our good looks. :-) But anyway, here it is. This as I mentioned was taken at the end of our long day, and we have another long and more active day ahead of us tomorrow, so I will sign off for now. I should say though (lest I sound ungrateful) that as if we didn't already have a lot to be thankful for (and we did), we sure do after this past week. Jon's doctor appointment went well. My wife was heading back to our boss's office to wrap up for the day. But she had to travel down a long windy road with less than good road conditions. She told me that she fought with the car a good bit when she realized that she was losing control. But unfortunately a greasy road, and windy curves landed her over a large embankment tearing up the whole underside of the car on the way down. She said there was a guy behind her who never stopped, and just kept going. She called 911 and within minutes a State Trooper, a firetruck, and the rescue arrived. It was quite the bump because half of the stuff that was in the very back of the car (the VERY back) was up in the seat behind her and up front with her. As some of you know, I just started a new class. I am only one week into it so far but already have a good idea what I've gotten myself into. I was very excited about this class at first. I thought it was going to be like some kind of psychology of color (which I think I'll be taking at some point). This kind of thing has always been really interesting to me. I've always enjoyed learning about the effects music and colors and things like that have on people. Well, after completing my second real assignment (for the second time! - My choice) I have come to a conclusion - THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE DUMBEST CLASS I HAVE TAKEN YET!! Thought this was kind of funny! As I blogged on the other blog, Jon got me this mini rose bush a couple months ago and I was just thrilled! I had looked at them in the grocery store for a while before that and he knew I wanted one, so the one time he went to the store by himself, he got it for me. Anyway, as seems to be my luck with live plants, it was only a matter of days before. . . well it had seen much better days! I knew I had this kind of effect on plants, so I had been babying it and everything! I looked up info online and on the little card that came with it. I tried to sit it in just the right spot for the perfect conditions, but alas. . . When I thought it was pretty well past the point of hope, I sat it in the window in the bedroom and honestly just about forgot about it. Soup of the day is as stated above. Well... there won't be a soup everyday, but here is another one. Interestingly enough, I concocted this soup when I was somewhere between the ages of 10 and 12. I made it then but have never made it since... until tonight. I don't remember how it tasted O' so many years ago, but you can ask my wife... tonight it was quite tasty! Ingredients: Two boneless chicken breasts cut in half (total of 4 pieces) 4 to 5 medium sized potatoes (skins on) 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup Grill the chicken first with only salt and pepper (or bake if you don't have a grill, or don't feel like grilling). No special flavoring unless that is your preference. Allow the chicken to cool and cube into bite size pieces. Cube the potatoes to bite size, ( no one wants to look like an animal at the table) and then boil in water for about 6-8 minutes or until almost soft. I have to admit I lost track of time. I told Jon Sunday that this week would be my last full week of this class then I'd just have a couple days the next week. Well, I logged into my class Monday evening just to double check things and make sure I was still on schedule for my Tuesday assignment because of the holiday. Much to my surprise when I logged in, the headline said "Welcome to week 6"! There are 5 1/2 weeks total. Not only did I not have another full week of classes, but I also had an assignment due THAT NIGHT! Luckily, it was just kind of a quick outline/sketch of what I was going to do for my final project, so it didn't take too long. So, instead of having a week and a couple days left, I only had two days left. This made me happy!! Then I started stressing about my final project. I worked all day today - which is great, but I always manage to have work on the days I need to be home doing school! This project was supposed to take us six hours to complete and...

I enjoy cooking, and Jon is so NOT picky, that for the most part I can just make whatever and he's going to eat it and enjoy it. Sometimes I think he wouldn't even care if we had the same three things over and over. I however need more variety, so I'm always looking for a new recipe or way to spice up an old one. I admit although we've only been married for a year and three months, I find myself getting bored with the same ol' thing. I can't even imagine my poor Momma making menus after thirty some years! Anyway, all this to say I do have a favorite recipe that I don't think I'll ever get tired of. As some of you may know, broccoli has long run a close second to my favorite veggie - green beans, so as you can guess, one of my favorite recipes is based on broccoli. We have actually had the new "car" since the middle of August, but didn't post pictures because we wanted some people to see it "in person" first. Now, however, everyone has seen it and for lack of something better to post, here is a picture of the new wheels. We cristened it with a trip up Whiteface Mt. the day after we got it (back when we posted all the other Whiteface pix). It's a 2002 Mazda Tribute. Features include: sun roof, cassette player AND 6 CD changer, power locks and windows, remote key-less entry, both automatic and push button 4-wheel drive, etc. It's quite an upgrade, and we're excited to have something a little more dependable and suited to our location!

I never ever would have guessed that this election would have been so disturbing for me. I find myself being reminded of 9-11 and that next morning saying to mom, "I can't believe that really happened" Although, those aren't my exact words. But I have been so encouraged as this election has come and gone, there is one "phrase" (I guess you could call it) that I have heard from several people, and they all have said, "On Wednesday morning, no matter who is president, God will still be in charge!" To make a long story short. . . Saturday, my mom took my youngest sister, Joy, out to lunch for her 13th birthday. Little did Joy know that it had been arranged for all of us girls to meet up with them for lunch. Rachel and Becky both flew in from FL, Lynette drove from IN, and I travelled the couple hours from Lake Placid. We stood there for a couple minutes before she actually realized who we were. I guess when you don't know certain people are in the area, it's hard to notice them at first. When she did notice us, I didn't have to worry about missing the surprised look, because she just sat there for a little while like this! HAPPY 13th Birthday (today is the actual day) Joy!!
