Finished By Friday

I tried to post this sooner after we had done it, but blogger was having issues uploading my photos. Hopefully it works this time! K it didn't work that time, but it did this time. I think it doesn't like the size of my pictures. This is probably at least the fifth time I have tried to post these! So here it is - our second photo shoot. We only did three rooms in this house because they aren't finished with the whole house yet, but it took us about as long because there was a lot of fine detail they wanted highlighted. I personally really like this house. From the outside it looks very Swiss with the pointy roof and white and brown mix. The inside is a bazaar yet attractive mixture of busy personality (bright colors, busy trim work, etc.), Adirondack (white birch/wood), and old world (leather, maps, etc.). You can just about see the guys sitting there with their cigars and Cherie. It's great! The lighting leaves a LOT to be desired though! One fireplace in the "...

So here it is finally! I ordered fabric to make a shower curtain, and am just getting around to getting it made. Up until now we've been using a clear curtain liner. I didn't want anything too dark or with too much print on it because our bathroom is sooooo small I was afraid it would close it in even more. I'm not sure I even like this in there, but we'll try it for a while and see. So here is the finished project. (Well, almost finished. I made a little annoying goof that I'll probably have to go back and fix later, but it's good for now.) I was very happy to get it done. That's one thing off my long list of projects! So I realize I am quite a bit behind on my blogging (work has kept me quite busy for the last couple weeks!), but I'm finally back - that's the important part right? Saturday, June 14, the Bloomingdale church ladies hosted a Bridal Shower for Melissa (Jon's soon-to-be sister-in-law). Here are some pictures of the fun that day. So the big news is that Jon and I have booked an ongoing photography job on the side. Our bosses want to put together a book of their work to show prospective clients. In the past they have hired someone else to come in and take pictures, so they were pleased to know that we could do it for them. So far we have done one house (kind of just a trial run we'll probably go back in and do some more specifics that they want.) and they really liked what we got, so. . . We plan to do the second one this week sometime and then we'll see where else we'll go. Jon is the photographer, I go in, arrange things and give my two cents worth on what features are important to focus on AND how and at what angle the picture should be taken. So I just wanted to share some pictures with you about our little Daisy-Doo. She is quite the nosy little girl. Most of the time she gets covered because it's bedtime and that seems to keep her a little quieter with her blanky over her. Some times she just gets covered because she is being a miserable little cuss and squawking incredibly loudly. In the first picture you see that her blanket covers her pretty well, but should you ever put her blanket on and there is a gap at the bottom, you get the other two pictures. She knows that there are people out there, and what a tragedy it would be if she missed something. Anyway, just thought that we would share. Maybe we'll show you some other pictures of when she thinks she's a bat.

I probably won't be posting a lot of school stuff, but this is one of the first good assignments and I was very pleased with it. (As was the teacher! She always has to balance praise with criticism. This project she didn't have anything bad to say about!) I wasn't into the fact that I had a good project and had to add certain things. This isn't exactly how I designed it before I had to add all the elements the teacher wanted. The project was mostly to help us get familiar with Adobe Illustrator. I hadn't even opened the program until I got ready to do this project! I HATE the program! I can't find anything and even if I can I can't get it to do what it's supposed to! So this is why I'm so proud of this assignment and the teacher's comments! This was a two part assignment (so far). OK, no we're not moving. Unfortunately we can't buy a new home for the price Daisy can get an upgrade. While we were out over the weekend, we visited a nice little pet store. Daisy's bigger cage isn't all we wanted to bring home, but. . . the chocolate lab had to stay there! Anyway, here are a couple pictures of Daisy getting used to her new home. (she's quite photogenic!) When we first put her in it, she just sat there on the perch for a while with her head slightly tilted, and you could just about see what she was thinking. "I know! You guys painted it! No, no that's not it. . . new drapes? No, that's not it. . . I know there's something different about it!" And just in case you forgot what the old one was like. . . She seems very content in her new home!

Jon and I were pleased to have the chance to get away this weekend. It wasn't a long vacation at all, but we thoroughly enjoyed our one night out of town!! While we were out and about, we got re- acquainted with the wonders of ihop , and Jon had the pleasure of introducing me to Olive Garden. I fell in love immediately ! (We're still eating left-overs!) It's always interesting (and a bit scary) to find and book a non-chain hotel online. We've done it twice now and so far so good! This hotel was a nice big place with a beautiful lobby, dining room, and pool. It was the kind of place that you feel a bit under dressed when you walk in in your jeans and t-shirt, and you really feel funny traipsing down to the pool in your lovely pool attire! (maybe I'll tell that story some day! :-/ ) Anyway, so we got into our room on the top of four floors of guest rooms (and this doesn't count the ground/lobby level).
