A Few of My Favorite Things

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens. . .

We all know the song. I'm really not sure why they always play it with all the Christmas music though, because while yes, Christmas is a favorite, the whole rain drops on roses thing kind of leads you to think of spring/summer. But anyway, I've been thinking for a couple weeks about some of my favorite things, so here they are not necessarily in this order.

  • A smile from a friend across the church
  • A text saying "It's a Nephew!!"
  • Ordering/buying gifts for people
  • Bags (some purses, but mostly totes of all kinds!)
  • My job - yes I really do quite enjoy my job! I work with some of the nicest people!
  • Snuggling up on the couch with my husband for a movie
  • Collaborating on some ridiculous idea/fantasy with my husband
  • Laughing - with anyone!
  • A card from a friend just because they were thinking of me
  • Music of many different variations
  • School - although it's not always fun and it stresses me out sometimes
  • My sewing machine
  • My kitchen - even when it's messy
  • Hanging out with friends til all hours
  • Flowers - fake is good, real is better!!
  • A good bargain - OR good stuff for free! :-)
  • Belting the ONE fun line of a song at the exact same time as Jon - as if on cue! :-)
  • A good chic flick, a good foot soak, and a good friend to do it with!
  • A comfy old hoodie
  • Pajamas
  • A warm cup of coffee on a cold rainy day - Green Mountain Colombian Fair Trade is the best!
  • Our Saturday morning biscuit and gravy brunch
  • The 4th of July
  • Pictures of family
  • Coloring book pages and fun foam projects from my niece on my refrigerator

That was a cool idea! I enjoyed reading your list and yes, it would probably do us all good to make a list like that occassionally.

I like, very clever...I will have to think about it a bit and come up with my own posting. But you set a pretty high bar you know. It isn't that I'm not grateful and don't have a good life but sitting here I think I have maybe 5 that come to mind. :-p I really need to get out more.
Once I get my list done then I'll challenge Beck and Net.

Yes Beck, I have just been feeling really blessed and content lately and thought maybe sharing would inspire others to start counting thier blessings - even the ordinary, everyday ones.

Rach, Like I said I had been thinking about it for a while as different things happened, but when I actually sat down to write it all out I blanked! It took a little bit to get this list together.

OK, I got this magazine in the mail a couple days ago, but just took the time to actually see what it was last night. They advertise "making luxury affordable" - which of course means that they still charge you outrageous prices, they just let you pay it in smaller installments. This, to me, is more trouble than it's worth anyway even if you don't think about the fact that they (like everyone else in America) are encouraging you to spend more money than you have. The thing that really caught my attention, however, was not the flat screen TVs and computers and living room furniture and mattresses and jewelry. . . Like I said, I looked at this thing last night. It wasn't until I picked it up to throw it away a few minutes ago though, that I realized some of the things I had seen listed! OK, this is just crazy! Where else on earth would it get down right hot for two weeks and then snow again?!?! Yeah you guessed it! This whole week has been nasty cold with snow off and on. (I knew I shouldn't have made that last post!) Anyway, I have been trying to get Jon to let us get a more springy picture of the two of us to put on here, so here it is. Of course there's not too much green stuff around yet and it snowed two days after this picture was taken, but. . . we enjoyed the weather while we had it!
